Rear Garden After Renovation

Rear Garden After Renovation

As you can see above, the clients garden looks completely different to the previous picture. I did a comprehensive renovation here, including digging out the patio stones, trimming back the bushes, taking out plants to expose brick wall as a feature, cutting and putting down lawn feed for the grass etc

Rear Garden Renovation After

Here you can see the brick wall I have exposed as a feature wall, the client plans to hang a garden clock from this wall. The garden has gained masses of space from cutting the hedges back also.

This picture shows the overgrown right corner of the clients garden. the bushes and the patio are both very overgrown and the patio is very dirty. The large pine tree (far right) in the picture is the same pine tree as in the far right of previous photo

One Of The Outbuildings To Clear

One Of The Outbuildings To Clear

During my time helping a client clear his land for sale, one of my tasks was to completely strip the above outbuilding, as well as several other which can just be seen in this picture. I alos cleared a large garage, sorting all the contents into keep, scrap metal and tip or skip.

Inside the Outbuilding

Inside the Outbuilding

I began by dismantling these dog kennels, loading them onto a trailer and strapping them down. I also took apart two large industrial shelving units, removed all furniture, lights, switches fixtures and fittings so that the client could take all of these with him to the new location.

Design and Build of Rockery

Initially I dug out and turned over the earth in order to get a more level surface to work with. client wanted two beds one raised one lower.

Design and Build of Rockery

Design and Build of Rockery

Apart from initial guidance from client whole design was done by myself. Layed weed control fabric and pinned in place, supplied and arranged all rocks as seen in photo, also had to split up some larger rocks to complete smaller front border between bed and pavement.

Pressure washing patio

Pressure washing patio

Look at the difference, essentially a new patio for a fraction of the cost! Added benefits of pressure washing include increased life of patio i.e. less crumbling/cracking and much safer to walk on in wet or dry!

Filling and covering disused vent

Old vent hole for tumble dryer or similar needed to be filled and covered to prevent draught inside house and improve external appearance.

Overflow pipe not draining properly

Overflow pipe not draining properly

This overflow pipe was not draining properly due to having no gradient and also poorly fitted support brackets which were falling out of wall

Overflow pipe not draining properly

Overflow pipe not draining properly

Clips on corner had come off completely leaving water to collect here and overflow pipe was not attached to drainage which left water leaking everywhere

Overflow pipe not draining properly

Overflow pipe not draining properly

put gradient in pipe to increase flow and prevent water pooling inside pipe. reattached brackets securely and added more for extra support i.e. to prevent brackets coming out of wall again. Also fixed end of pipe into drain with polycement to prevent leakage

Very poorly made steps rectified

Very poorly made steps rectified

Client had set of steps made in rental property, very shoddy workmanship and incorrect materials used - such as expanding foam to stick down slabs instead of mortar. Steps were not straight or level and tread depth was too wide

Very poorly made steps rectified

Very poorly made steps rectified

View of steps from above, you can see yellow expanding foam sticking out of joints . Bricks on side not fixed in place i put these there to make it look better - previous contractor left bare brick there.

Very poorly made steps rectified

Very poorly made steps rectified

To rectify steps I had to: level top step as one slab was higher than other causing a trip hazard Use petrol cutter to decrease tread depth of bottom step, could not rectify tread of top step as no room to modify. Cement bricks on side in place to improve aesthetic repoint gaps inbetween slabs with cement to improve aesthetic

Very poorly made steps rectified

overall pic once steps were finished. Must say this is not my best work as had to find way to make a bad job by someone else look better. I am a firm believer that you should not try to cut corners and if you are going to do something do it properly first time as it will always cost more to get a bad job rectified

the finished article, first cleaned walls with sugar soap, then filled and sanded any cracks and finally two coats of the clients desired paint

Painting a room for a client

Painting a room for a client

important to note that generally my painting and decorating is great - my cutting in is a weakness i.e. finishing off between walls and ceiling and walls and skirting as this has to be done freehand without masking tape and my freehand painting require improvement. However my charges are much lower than a professional painter and decorators for exactly this reason. you get what you pay for.
